$50K Policy Limits Settlement

Genavieve recently obtained a $50K policy limits settlement for our client arising out of a low-impact car accident in Festus, Missouri. Our client was stopped at a traffic light when he was rear-ended. According to the police report, the other driver lied to the officer and said someone else struck her vehicle, which then pushed her car into our client’s car. However, the police officer reviewed gas station CCTV, which revealed there was in fact no third vehicle – she just ran into him herself but refused to take responsibility.
Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for at-fault drivers to blame someone else for their mistakes. That said, this is usually hard to accomplish when you rear-end someone. This did not deter “Sandra,” who invented an imaginary tortfeasor. Fortunately, Sandra was caught-on-camera and we were able to obtain her $50k policy limits to resolve our client’s claim.
Even though this was considered a low-impact collision, our client sustained serious injuries to his neck and knee, and ultimately required arthroscopic knee surgery. He incurred $32K in medical bills and lost wages. The $50K settlement from Sandra is not enough to fully compensate our client for his injuries, but fortunately he has underinsured motorist coverage as well, which we were able to pursue for him.
