Alexa Whalen is an Associate Attorney at McCready Law, where she represents individuals and families who have suffered injuries due to the negligence of others. With a strong belief in standing up for those facing difficult circumstances, Alexa approaches every case with compassion, determination, and a commitment to achieving meaningful outcomes for her clients.
Before joining McCready Law, Alexa built her legal career as a family law attorney, where she helped clients navigate highly personal and emotionally challenging issues such as divorce, child custody, and financial disputes. Her experience guiding individuals and families through these difficult transitions sharpened her skills in advocacy, negotiation, and dispute resolution, which she now brings to her personal injury practice. She’s comfortable in the courtroom and skilled in negotiation and mediation, with a steady, confident presence that helps clients feel supported through even the most difficult cases.
Originally from Kansas, Alexa earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. While she was earning her undergraduate degree, Alexa interned at the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office, where she assisted with protection orders for domestic violence and assault cases. This formative experience inspired her desire to make a difference through law. After moving to Chicago to attend the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, she concentrated in Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution, where she discovered her passion for standing up for everyday people in need of a strong advocate.
Now, as part of the team at McCready Law, Alexa continues her mission of helping people through some of life’s most difficult moments, this time, for those who have suffered physical, emotional, and financial harm from personal injury incidents. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois and remains committed to providing clients with thoughtful guidance, clear communication, and strong legal advocacy.
Outside the office, Alexa is an avid reader—especially psychological thrillers by authors like Freida McFadden—and she never misses a good book-to-movie adaptation. She enjoys spending time with her partner, catching a film, or relaxing at home with her rescue cat.
