Kelly is our Managing Partner Mr.McCready’s executive assistant. She is no stranger to the workload and intensity that comes with working in the executive level and her talent and immense knowledge are such a valued resource. Kelly is very organized and exact, so she keeps everything humming along like a well-oiled machine.
She started her career in the late 1980s in mergers and acquisitions. As an assistant to the president of the company, Kelly kept everything running in the days before email, cell phones, Zoom, and the Internet as a whole! Couple this with international clients and conference calls and she really had to be on top of things. While the ins and outs of coordinating business might have evolved since these early days, the core needs of the people doing business have not — and Kelly is always across every one of them. She knows who everybody is, and their preferences, and is one of the best problem solvers we have. Kelly has never met a stranger and is always a joy to talk to. She knows the importance of networking in business and is always willing to help others when needed, too. She is MOS Certified and takes classes often to keep up with her skills.
We also very much value Kelly’s perspective around the office as she has a personal injury story of her own. In August 1994, she was hit by a yellow cab in a case that took eight years to settle. Her injuries altered the course of her life and she is very familiar with the anxiety and worry that comes with these situations. We want all our clients to know that they have a strong ally in Kelly. She knows what it’s like.
Throughout her career, she has worked for four incredible corporate presidents. She is quick to say that her job always feels easy because they have been amazing people to work for and very easy to take care of.
Outside of work, she lives on a bit of land in the country. Kelly enjoys the slower pace of life out there. Cooking her own meals, peaceful sunrises and sunsets. She loves birding and enjoys all the different species that come to visit her. Kelly has also been known to enjoy a fossil hunt or two.
She’s a self-taught abstract painter, so she spends plenty of time creating stories on canvas or consuming stories in media. She loves the movies and drinks in each film like the work of art that it is. Kelly has a deep love for the city of Chicago and its surrounds and is a walking encyclopedia on most things Chicago. From the glaciers that left the beautiful black dirt to the mercantile history of the city and everything in between. She is a former docent at the Chicago Architecture Center but is still on top of the subject.
