BIO

Samantha R. Johnson is a Senior Pre-Litigation Attorney at McCready Law with extensive experience in personal injury litigation, trial advocacy, mediation, and settlement negotiation. Her career began at a high-volume personal injury law firm outside Dallas, Texas, where her eagerness to learn and gain courtroom experience provided an extraordinary foundation for her legal career. During her time in Texas, Samantha tried approximately 30 jury cases to verdict, frequently facing attorneys with considerably more experience.

Through her years in the courtroom, Samantha discovered that she particularly excels in mediation and negotiation, where she combines careful preparation, an understanding of her clients’ experiences, and her extensive litigation background to achieve meaningful results. She believes that the strongest settlements begin with the willingness and preparation to take a case to trial. Although litigation can be an intimidating and exhausting experience for injured clients, Samantha understands when it is necessary and when a negotiated resolution can better serve their interests.

Whether preparing a client for a deposition, negotiating with an insurance company, or guiding someone through an unfamiliar legal process, Samantha takes pride in humanizing an experience that can otherwise feel intimidating or alienating. She believes access to justice is fundamental, particularly for those whose lives have been disrupted by the negligence of others.

Samantha and her husband returned to Minnesota in 2019. Since then, her practice has included complex litigation involving severe injuries, including automobile and trucking accidents, amusement ride and elevator injuries, and mass torts. She is licensed to practice in Minnesota and Iowa and is a member of the Minnesota Association for Justice.

Samantha earned her B.A. in Music and Political Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2010 and her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law (now Mitchell Hamline School of Law) in 2013. During law school, she received the Gustav C. Axelrod Merit Scholarship and served as a Student-Certified Attorney with the Ramsey County Public Defender’s Office.

Outside of her legal practice, Samantha has maintained a lifelong passion for music and the arts. In recent years, she has performed with choral and orchestral ensembles in both the Twin Cities and Duluth, as a violinist and alto. Most recently, she was elected to the Board of Directors of Borealis Chamber Artists, a Duluth-based nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing professional musicians together to create exceptional choral and chamber music, support artists, and strengthen communities through musical performance. For Samantha, service to the arts is a natural extension of her work as an advocate: both are rooted in the conviction that compelling stories, thoughtfully told, can change hearts, minds, and communities.

Samantha and her husband have two young children, who provide endless opportunities to practice patience, persuasion, and occasionally unsuccessful bedtime negotiations. She also enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors with her family, and dreaming about future travels. Her bucket list includes a train journey through Eastern Europe and a trip to Argentina to experience its tango music firsthand.
