As the firm’s Medical Records Supervisor, Tamika McDonald plays a pivotal role in maintaining the accuracy, organization, and efficiency of our records department. With the firm’s rapid growth and expanding caseload, Tamika has helped establish structure, processes, and protocols that keep cases moving forward smoothly. She oversees the collection of medical records and bills for each of our clients, ensuring all documentation is complete, timely, and compliant with privacy regulations.
Working closely with case managers, Tamika tracks down records from each provider involved in a case, verifying that every detail supports the proof of damages and incident information needed for settlement demands. Her meticulous nature and firm understanding of medical documentation standards make her a trusted leader behind the scenes.
Before joining the firm, Tamika served as Medical Records Team Lead at Downes Law Group in Coconut Grove, Miami, where she created and built the department from the ground up. Her background also includes work in healthcare facilities’ medical records departments, giving her firsthand insight into the systems, laws, and confidentiality standards that govern the release of sensitive information. Earlier in her career, Tamika worked in marketing and sales before transitioning to a quieter, detail-driven path in medical records, where she found her perfect fit.
Known for her persistence, organization, and love of research, Tamika leads her team with the precision of an investigator. She takes pride in ensuring that no record is overlooked, no deadline is missed, and every client’s file is handled with care and professionalism.
Outside of work, Tamika lives and works in Florida and dreams of starting a travel vlog to share her adventures exploring new cultures. She has already visited Alaska and Liberia and hopes to one day travel to Japan and Nigeria—countries that fascinate her for their deep cultural roots and connections to her own Jamaican heritage. Growing up, Tamika watched Nollywood films with her mother, and now enjoys them with her daughter; visiting Nigeria would be a full-circle experience.
She and her husband have four adult children—one son and three daughters—each building their own lives and careers. She’s immensely proud of their independence, work ethic, and the paths they’re carving for themselves.
“This is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
