Samantha R. Johnson feels her career began the first day she walked into a personal injury law firm as a young lawyer just outside of Dallas, Texas. Her eagerness to learn the ropes and gain experience in a courtroom served her well, as she had the unique opportunity to begin her career at an extremely high-volume firm. She carried approximately 30 jury trials to verdict during her time there, many against much more senior attorneys.

Additionally, she discovered that she truly shines during mediations, where Samantha could carefully explain the legal process to her clients and leverage her experience to secure the insurance company’s top offer with the help of a neutral third party. She understands that for success, you need to approach each case as if it will be tried. Samantha is always ready to face insurance companies in the courtroom, and she uses her extensive trial experience to this end. Litigation isn’t pleasant, so she knows how to spare her clients from it where possible, but Samantha is always willing to use it to pull what she needs out of the insurance companies — should that be what the case needs.  That said, Samantha thinks the best negotiator she knows is her three-year-old daughter, who will say anything to get out of bedtime.

Whether preparing a client for a deposition or walking them through an overview of the complex legal process associated with their case, Samantha takes pride in humanizing an experience that can otherwise feel intimidating or alienating. Samantha feels that access to justice in the legal system is here for the benefit of everyone, and especially people injured by the negligence of others. Samantha was drawn to law because she believes advocacy can be an art form. That’s how she approaches things. She takes special interest in the power of art to permeate hearts and minds and to transform communities.

Samantha and her husband decided after six years in Texas to move home to Minnesota. Since doing so, Samantha has worked on complex litigation involving severe injuries, including auto and trucking accidents, roller coaster and elevator injuries, and mass torts.

In her personal life, Samantha spends a lot of time wrangling two toddlers with her husband. She enjoys staying physically active and finding new ways to occupy and challenge her German Shepherd dog. She likes to engage with and support the local art and music scene in the Twin Cities. She occasionally participates in community orchestra and choral ensembles as both a violinist and an alto. As her kids grow up, she would love to see more of the world. Her bucket list includes a train trip across Eastern Europe and another to hear tango music in Argentina.
