Are You Eligible for Allergan Implants Compensation? Find Out
Women with breast cancer who may have had to undergo total mastectomies may not feel as sexy as they used to. However, one doesn’t have to remain this way, and the option for breast reconstruction surgery is made available to them. The use of implants after breast cancer removal and mastectomies has grown over the years, making it possible for women to enjoy their bodies and bring back something that cancer took away from them. Unfortunately, some of these breast implants, specifically those made by the company that manufactures Allergan, have chosen to conveniently forget about patient safety by launching a defective product, Allergan textured breast implants and tissue expanders, given the fact that it may cause large cell lymphoma, an often deadly cancer.

Allergan FDA Recall and B-Cell Lymphoma – The Details
In 2019, the FDA issued an order asking Allergan makers to voluntarily recall their products after it discovered that Allergan Biocell ® breast implants could cause the development of certain cancers. BIA-ALCL, or breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma is a cancer that attacks the immune system. It is typically found in fluid and scar tissue near the breast implant, and may metastasize over time. Symptoms of BIA-ALCL include pain and persistent swelling around your implant, and these signs may occur years after receiving your implant. If you go for a breast exam and the doctor finds fluid around your implant, or something called capsular contracture which typically refers to the squeezing of your implant by scar tissue, you may want to have a full body workup in order to rule out anything serious.
BIA-ALCL Breast Cancer?
It is important to note that BIA-ALCL is not breast cancer, but a cancer of the immune system associated with the implantation of certain breast implants. In order to treat B-cell lymphoma brought on by Allergan breast implants, you may need to undergo surgery and in some instances, chemotherapy and radiation as well.
