Construction Worker Killed by Speeding Driver
A construction worker was killed in the early morning hours of June 21, 2013 at 4900 S. Western Avenue in Chicago. A speeding driver crashed through construction barriers, striking and killing the worker.
The driver was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition. The car’s two passengers were also taken to local hospitals. When a construction worker is killed on the job, his or her family is entitled to a settlement from workers’ compensation.
Many times, someone else is responsible for the injury or death of the construction worker and they will have a third party case against the person who caused the accident. In this case, the construction worker’s family would also have a personal injury case against the insurance company of the speeding driver.
To sort out these complicated matters, you should contact a lawyer who handles both personal injury as well as workers’ compensation cases. McCready Law has been representing the south side of Chicago for over 20 years. To speak to an attorney for a free consultation, please call 773-779-9885.
