Each month we highlight an organization or group which we support, with time or money, and we encourage you to do the same. We support a wide range of groups throughout the year, some national in scope, others may involve a fundraiser for an individual in need. Autism Spectrum Disorder and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development that affect 1 in 88 American children today—a 10-fold increase in the last 40 years. Experts debate the sources of autism, but few dispute the dire need for global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a possible cure. That’s why Autism Speaks was launched in 2005, and why McCready, Garcia & Leet is so adamant in our support.
Autism Speaks aims to bring the autism community together as one strong voice to urge the government and private sector to listen to their concerns and take action to address this urgent global health need. They strive to raise public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families and society. And they are committed to raising the funds necessary to support these goals.
