At McCready, Garcia & Leet, we feel it is important to give back to the community. After all, without the community, we would be nothing. Each month we highlight an organization or group which we support, with time or money, and we encourage you to do the same. We support a wide range of groups throughout the year, some national in scope, others may involve a fundraiser for an individual in need. In a world with too much sadness, there are few visions more joyful than watching a child get a new toy at Christmas. Because there are so many unfortunate little ones whose families cannot afford toys at Christmas. The US Marine Corps Reserve initiated the Toys for Tots Program to collect new toys during the fall each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in communities throughout the country. While the main activity of Toys for Tots is collecting new toys in the three months prior to Christmas each year, local Toys for Tots campaign coordinators conduct an array of activities throughout the year, which include golf tournaments, foot races, bicycle races and other voluntary events designed to increase interest in Toys for Tots, and generate gifts and monetary donations for the children.
In Chicago, Toys for Tots holds its annual motorcycle ride starting at 87th Street traveling north for over 20 miles. The ride started in 1978 with six motorcycles and has grown to over 22,000 riders! Many clients of McCready, Garcia & Leet participate every year.
