At McCready, Garcia & Leet, we feel it is important to give back to the community. After all, without the community, we would be nothing. Each month we highlight an organization or group which we support, with time or money, and we encourage you to do the same. We support a wide range of groups throughout the year, some national in scope, others may involve a fundraiser for an individual in need. Jorge and Hortencia Casillas, longtime Pilsen residents, were taking their daughter, son-in-law and 11-month-old grandson to visit their native Valle de Guadalupe. On January 8, 2014 — when the family was about four hours away from Valle de Guadalupe — Jorge Casillas lost control of his SUV, going off the road and flipping several times. Jorge Casillas was killed in the crash. His daughter, Mayra Casillas suffered broken ribs, a broken nose, lung and liver damage, and severe cuts and bruising. Mayra Casillas’ boyfriend, Rolando Santoyo, has broken vertebrae in his neck. Hortencia and the baby were fortunate to suffer non-life threatening injuries. All donations go towards funeral expenses for Jorge Casillas, surgeries for Mayra Casillas and Rolando Santoya, and for Mayra’s hospital transfer to the United States.
