New Jersey Family Files Talc Cancer Lawsuit

Bertila Boyd-Bostic, who passed away at the young age of 30, had her day in court posthumously at the Darlington County Court of Common Pleas when the lawyer representing her family told a jury that Johnson & Johnson knew about the presence of asbestos in its products for over 40 years. Attorney Christopher Swett stated that the plaintiff used talc powder for the better part of her life, and that Johnson & Johnson’s choices were why the case transpired.

Johnson & Johnson Attorneys Deny All Claims

In addition to Johnson & Johnson, Rite Aid, the national retail store was also named as the other defendant in the suit. The pharma company’s attorney, however, denied the claims stating that there was no evidence in the deceased woman’s records that her pericardial mesothelioma was in any way the proximate cause of her death. Another attorney representing the company also pointed out that millions of people had used their talc products without developing any medical conditions, and that this was proof their talc doesn’t contain asbestos fibers.
